About us

Leppo Equipment was started in 1945 in Akron, Ohio by Roy and Stella Leppo as an Oliver Farm Equipment dealer. With a declining need for farming equipment in the 1970s, Leppo shifted focus to construction equipment which propelled the growth of the company. During this time, we began to rent machines typically not found in traditional rental yards and Leppo Rents was born. Since 1945, Leppo Rents has been a dealer for many manufacturers including Massey Ferguson, Case trenchers, Lull forklifts, Gradall, New Holland, and Mustang. Our current primary equipment lines include Bobcat, JLG, Hydro Mobile, and more. Today, Leppo Rents has grown considerably since its first store in Akron. The Canton (OH) location opened in 1995, Youngstown (OH) in 1996, Wooster (OH) in 1998, Cleveland (OH) in 2004, Cleveland West (OH) in 2010, Dothan (AL) and Opelika (AL) in 2019, Panama City (FL) and Tallahassee (FL) in 2020, Lake County (OH) and Medina (OH) in 2022, and Jacksonville (FL) and Ocala (FL) in 2023.

At Leppo, Inc., we have what is known as The Leppo Way. It isn’t just words on a piece of paper, it is simply us making decisions in the best interest of ALL of our stakeholders. Without our customers, coworkers, community, vendors and owners, we wouldn’t get to do what we love to do and love seeing others do. Thanks Matt Bachtel. I felt grateful to see your post and 5 year old me + a few decades got pretty excited reading it some of the team today!

I am not going to lie… I just acted like my 5 year old self, in public, tonight. I was attending the Massillon holiday parade, to watch my son lead the band, as the drum major. He did a great job and I was very proud of him. However I wasn’t so proud of myself when I saw the Leppo, Inc. float come down the road. Leppo is our local Bobcat Company equipment dealer. (They do an outstanding job by the way.) You see, they had one of their new lowboys, hauling several MT 100 Bobcat Company walk behind loaders. Behind the loaders was a Bobcat Utility vehicle. They had Christmas lights strung between the units and created Santa’s sleigh and his reindeer. When I saw the float coming down the hill, I might have jumped up and down, like my 5 year old self. I excitedly pointed the float out to my wife. (I don’t think she was as impressed) I then proceeded to snap pictures and take video like I was meeting a celebrity. My reaction was definitely child like. This child like reaction might have been just what the doctor ordered. We are nearing the end of a long, tough construction season in Ohio. I’m a little tired and beat up. The Christmas float reminded me of my childhood. The love I have had for construction equipment and the industry, since I was a child. It reminded me of the time my grandfather, took me to downtown Massillon and we watched the Beaver Excavating Company demolition an old building. The child like passion I had for the float tonight, is the same child like passion that lead me to start Bachtel Excavating Inc. It’s the same passion that drives me each day. I hope everyone enjoys the video and float as much as I did and it rekindles some passion in your life.

Thank you to Brad Paull, Safety Trainer at Leppo, Inc. Brad played a pivotal role in enhancing the skillset of our Carpentry students at #LCJVS. He dedicated his time to providing safety training and valuable guidance on scissor/bucket lift operations. During classroom sessions, our students absorbed crucial knowledge, delving into safety standards from OSHA, ANSI, SAIA, AEM, and ITSDF, and had the opportunity to get hands-on experience with the equipment right here on campus, all under the watchful eyes of seasoned professionals. The students earned Safety and Operator Certifications which equips them with a competitive edge in the construction industry job market. #WorkBasedLearning #SkilledTrades #SafetyTraining
