Rep. Sutton, serving her second term in office currently sits on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce focusing on healthcare, public health, energy, consumer protection, interstate and foreign commerce.
Since taking office Congresswoman Sutton has championed the Josh Miller HEARTS (Helping Everyone Access Responsive Treatment in Schools) Act, which established a grant program through the Department of Education that will provide schools with funds for lifesaving AEDs and AED/CPR training. Most recently she sponsored the CARS Program (Car Allowance Rebate System) or Cash for Clunkers program.
In 2006 Sutton was elected President of the Freshmen class of Democrats in the United State House of Representatives. In Washington, Sutton is focused on working with local, state, and national leaders to help develop new fair trade policies and foster investment in technology and innovation that will create high-quality, high-paying jobs for Northeast Ohioans.
Prior to serving in Congress, she served the people of Northeast Ohio in the State Legislature, Summit County Council, and Barberton City Council.
